Computer Science Co-operative Education

The Centre for Experiential Learning recognizes the value and contributions made by employers who provide co-op work terms to our students. Employers play an important role in the education of students. Supporting students in applying their learning in the field is invaluable to the development of young professionals. The University relies on their expertise and knowledge in mentoring students through their co-op experience.

Benefits of Hiring a VIU Student

If you are interested in becoming an employer, there are many benefits to hosting a Computer Science student. Students are eager to apply their learning in the field and are open to mentorship and feedback from industry professionals. Students are motivated and well trained in current topics such as logic and foundations, software engineering, data structures, systems and networks, and programming.

Students can help meet summer hiring needs and can assist with short term projects that your company is working on. Hosting a co-op student is also an excellent way for an organization to support the development of a young professional and to recruit students after graduation!
