Confirm admission requirements and course prerequisites with a VIU Advisor and follow up with your school counsellor regarding any courses you may need in your final semester.

Log on to your online VIU Student Record. Set up your PIN and security question and answer keeping in mind whether you want anyone to have access to your personal information. Ensure contact information is up to date.  Check for updates.

Monitor your mail and email regularly and act on all communications from VIU.

Ensure your application is complete including submission of transcripts and interim marks if required. Read your communications from the Admissions office and contact them directly if you have any questions or concerns.  Go into your online Student Record and create a password and security question.

Ensure that you have a back-up plan in place if applying to a limited entry program.  This may include submitting a separate application to another open admission program.  Connect with an Advisor to learn different routes toward your goal if not admitted to your desired program.

Visit the Ministry of Education Student Transcript Service to release your transcript of grades to VIU in May and August.  Hard copy transcripts must still be submitted when requested from Admissions.

March 31 Deadline.  Apply for “Incoming Outstanding Student” status. Submit an official high school transcript and cover letter to Registration Services.

March 31 Deadline: Apply for VIU Entrance Awards in your online Student Record.

Arrange a campus tour or visit the campus during Spring Break.  Read your emails for information.

Check with your school counsellor regarding VIU Advisor in your school for course planning.

September-December – Your First Semester at VIU

Tuesday, September 3, 2019 First day of classes for Fall semester

Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - Last day of active wait–list for Fall Semester courses. After this date courses may only be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration form.

Monday, September 16, 2019 - Last day to drop a Fall semester course without having to fully pay for it. Students who completely withdraw from all courses will be assessed a fee of $200.

Tuesday, September 17, 2019 - Fall semester fees are due and calculated on course enrolment as of this date.

Monday, October 28, 2019 - Last day for academic penalty–free withdrawal from a Fall semester courses or program, or to change from credit to audit (or vice–versa) in Academic Programs.

Thursday, October 31, 2019 – Deadline to fill out your student record Scholarship, Award and Bursary Profile.
