Educational Advisors Visit Schools

Educational Advisors Advising Centre at VIU assist new and continuing students and we look forward to connecting with local secondary school counsellors and the students transitioning from secondary school into post-secondary studies at Vancouver Island University. 

The following outline includes the ways in which we hope to support local student applicants this year.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions about these visits at any time.

September

Welcome to the Academic Year!   VIU Advisors invite you to look at the Advising Centre websiteYou will see on the Contact Us page that we have extended our hours to better serve the needs of VIU students and applicants.  We continue to work to provide information you may need on our High School Students and Counsellors tab.

December and January

VIU Advisors will contact High School Counsellors to schedule the following connections with applicants.   We are available to connect with VIU applicants prior to semester two about educational planning and final high school course selections.

February and March

Next Steps for VIU Applicants Group Presentations are offered to local schools.

  April and May

VIU Advisors offer Individualized Educational and Course Planning with accepted VIU students in local schools.

VIU Advisors partner with the Office of Enrollment Management and Registration Services to offer Web Registration Group Sessions in local schools.  Sessions are also available on campus and include late afternoon times intended to suit high school student schedules.

September through August

VIU Advisors are available in the Advising Centre in Building 200 and open for drop in appointments or phone calls to help VIU applicants with short or long term educational planning.

Educational Advisors are available on the Nanaimo Campus in the Student Affairs Advising Centre (Building 200), International Education (Building 255), Services for Aboriginal Students (Shq'apthut - Building 170), Adult Basic Education Program (Building 205) and at the Cowichan and Powell River Campuses.
