Hello (你好)! I’m happy to be a part of the counselling team at VIU, and I’m honoured to be a visitor on beautiful Snuneymuxw territory.
“Everyone is the author of their own stories” is my counselling philosophy. I believe human connection is the basic ingredient for healing. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and a collaborative approach. My work facilitates the meaningful journey in revealing clients’ undiscovered strengths and unused resources to explore possibilities and reconstruct a new chapter of their lives.
I earned my M.Ed. in Counselling at the University of Northern British Columbia and I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto with a double major in Psychology and Biology, which gave me a solid foundation in the bio-psycho-social model in my practice. I adopt a blend of narrative and solution-focused therapeutic approaches, and draw on a variety of other therapeutic techniques including mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), projective and art therapies, and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).
Little fun facts: I “only” need driving from Florida to Texas to finish my cross- North American road trip.
