The Writing Centre

On the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish People: the traditional territories of the Snuneymuxw, Snaw-naw-as, Quw’utsun (Cowichan), K’ómoks and Tla’amin First Nations.

Note: As a part of VIU's response to COVID-19, The Writing Centre has switched to an all-online model. You can book an etutoring/videochat appointment at WConline (see blue link below) but there are no face to face meetings until further notice. Contact me at with any questions.

Choose between  "etutoring" (you attach a document to the appointment; we look at it and reattach with our comments) and a live "video chat" option (Skype-like, with sound and vision).

Book your online appointment

We also offer online Workshops using Zoom to assist with a range of academic issues (Click for Spring 2021 schedule).

What is the Writing Centre?

The Writing Centre is staffed by friendly VIU faculty tutors interested in talking about any aspect of your writing, whether it's clear writing, thesis statements, citation and documentation, grammar, or organizing an argument. Even if you just want to discuss an assignment before you get started (or at any other stage in the writing process), the Writing Centre is the place to come. We cooperate with our colleagues in International Academic Support whose focus is on international students (but we are happy to see international students too).
