Booking Academic Advising Appointments

We have a new system in place for students to book appointments. Please note that the booking process differs slightly depending on whether you are using a phone or computer to book

Using a computer to book an appointment with an advisor on Experience Hub:

  1. Have your VIU Student Number ready and use this link to log in to VIU’s Experience Hub
  2. Click the down arrow (“v”) on the right of the “Students” top tab
  3. Select the description that best fits you: 
    • Returning or New Students: you are a new student who has not yet enrolled in VIU classes or a returning student who has not been enrolled in a VIU class in over 120 days. *The first time you login you will need to use the "Password Reset" function to update your account password. Click the "Password Reset" link and then follow the instructions to reset your Experience Hub password that are sent to you by email.
    • Current Student Single Sign-On: you are a student who has classes showing as enrolled (ENR) on your VIU Student record
  4. Login to Experience Hub using your VIU student number (with no dashes or spaces)

Once you are logged-in to Experience Hub, complete the following steps to book an appointment with an advisor:

  1. Locate the Dashboard area of Experience Hub (if you do not see this option, use the 3 horizontal lines “menu” button in the top right)
  2. Student Services: Click the down arrow (“v”) on the right of this option
  3. Academic Advising, choose Nanaimo (or the campus of your choice)
  4. Book by Viewing Calendar, Appointment Type, or by Appointment Provider
  5. Choose an available time slot and meeting method that works for you

Using a phone to book an appointment with an advisor on Experience Hub:

  1. Have your VIU Student Number ready and use this link to log in to VIU’s Experience Hub
  2. Click on the 3 horizontal lines “menu” button in the top right
  3. Select the description that best fits you:

Once you are logged-in to Experience Hub, complete the following steps to book an appointment with an advisor:

  1. Click on the 3 horizontal lines “menu” button in the top right
  2. Student Services: Click the down arrow (“v”) on the right of this option
  3. Academic Advising, choose Nanaimo 
  4. Click Book by Appointment Type
  5. Choose an appointment type that works for you
  6. Scroll all the way down the screen and click View Calendar
  7. Click on the day you wish to meet and choose an available time slot that works for you
