Whether you wish to return to the same program or a different program after your year on Academic Pause, you must submit a new application to VIU. You can apply for admission while you are on a pause from studies and should do so by the application deadline. Please refer to your letter from the Registrar’s Office for specific details.

If you plan to return to the same program that you were in prior to Academic Pause, you must reapply and will be placed on Academic Concern for your first year of return. If your program is a limited entry program, you will be subject to the competitive admission process for readmission.

- Meet with an Academic Advisor: Students on Academic Pause are welcome to meet with an Academic Advisor at any point in the year or more away from academic studies at VIU.
