Limited Entry programs have a limited number of seats/students they can accept for each intake (fall semester and/or other posted start time). Open Admission programs do not cap or limit the number of students accepted to each intake. If an applicant meets the minimum admission requirements of an Open Admission program at VIU, they will be offered admission. Limited Entry programs have minimum admission requirements but meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to applicants. Admission becomes competitive based on the admission criteria and minimum grades, scores and/or other requirements are dependent on the number and quality of applicants and vary year to year. You may be able to get some indication of how to ensure you have a competitive application from the information below and by connecting with Educational Advising with your questions.

- apply to VIU Exploratory Studies or Bachelor of Arts to take courses towards the goal following the Program Outline. PreBSN students can take two of ENGL 115, 125 and 135, BIOL 156 and 157 (ensure earliest possible course registration) and two electives towards the program without being admitted.
- apply again the following year for program admission. CASPer must be taken again.
Bachelor of Social Work
Bachelor of Social Work program details
- Admission Requirements are 60 credits of post secondary studies.

- Applicants must submit a Personal Profile including the applicant's reasons for pursuing a social work degree that includes personal suitability for the profession of Social Work as well as personal strengths and challenges

Dental Hygiene Diploma program details
- Admission Requirements are 30 credits of university studies. Admission is not straight from high school but there are a number of high school courses required to take all of the admission requirements: English 12, Foundation of Math 12 or PreCalculus 12, Biology 11 or 12, and Chemistry 11 or 12.
