National Work-integrated Learning Month

National Work-integrated Learning Month

We're Celebrating!

The Centre of Experiential Learning at VIU in partnership with Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL) are celebrating National Work-integrated Learning Month.

The National Day of WIL is Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

What Is National Work-Integrated Learning Month?

Each year, CEWIL and institutions across Canada celebrate National Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Month  to highlight the successes and promote awareness of co-op and work-integrated learning programs across Canada.

This year’s theme is centered around #FutureofWIL. Please join us in using the #FutureofWiL hashtag to share WIL stories that highlight strength, resilience, impact, curiosity, self-discovery, amongst others.

What is Work-Integrated Learning?

Work-integrated learning is a form of experiential education that formally integrates a student’s academic studies with work experience within their fields of study.   Student learning is enhanced when integrated with academic and experiential education.  Upon graduation, students who participate in WIL experiences transition into the job market with sought-after skills and experience.

VIU students have engaged in over 4000 work-integrated learning opportunities around the world since 2014.

A Thank You to our WIL Community Partners

During this month of celebration we would like to thank all of the VIU WIL community partners for providing our students with the opportunity to gain experience and apply their academic learning while working with your organization.

Your willingness to engage with our students and provide them with employment opportunities of all types forms the bridge between their academic studies and real-world experience.  These opportunities are valuable learning experiences for our students and we appreciate your time and expertise in preparing our students for their future careers.

Happy National WIL Day

“What is Work Integrated Learning? In my humble opinion, Work Integrated Learning integrates classroom learning with the necessary hands-on experience and advising that will help students in the workplace. Work Integrated Learning changed my life.”
