Description

Volunteer tutors provided valuable one-on-one or small group support and encouragement to adult learners, building student confidence and strengthening skills for academic success. Tutors were trained to provide personal support to ABE (Adult Basic Education) students in reaching their academic goals.

Position Overview

Volunteer tutors provide valuable one-on-one or small group support and encouragement to adult learners.  This support builds student confidence and strengthens skills for academic success.

Volunteer tutors assist students in Adult Basic Education (ABE), literacy courses up to intermediate levels, Foundations for Success (FNFS), Aboriginal University Bridging Program (AUBP), and first-year university English and Math courses.

Position Requirements

  • Must be a dedicated and motivated student
  • Have a strong understanding of the skills involved in the above programs
  • Must pass a criminal record check ($10 fee will be reimbursed)
