Position Requirements
The Navigator (The Nav) Online Reporter is responsible for ensuring content is frequently uploaded online so The Nav can have timely, relevant news content going up as it happens. This position reports, edits, and uploads stories from Nanaimo's community and the VIU campus as they break. Stories will be short and succinct, and can cover any subject (news, sports, arts, and features). This position requires basic editing and WordPress skills so the student can copy, edit and upload their own stories.
The addition of the Online Reporter position has been very successful. Online reporting has increased traffic to the website, strengthening The Nav's online presence. This progress is essential for The Nav going forward. The hope is that the site can maintain a strong number of hits to attract more online advertising, as well as strengthen overall readership. Having a Work-Op position for our Online Reporter will help The Nav achieve this goal.
