Description

The Fall Archaeology Catalogue Assistant position involves handling and inventorying a range of artefacts and faunal remains using archaeological lab techniques to produce a searchable database. This position is sponsored by the VIU Anthropology department.

Are you interested in archaeology? Thinking about a career in museums? Want some experience handling real artefacts and faunal remains?

As Archaeology Catalogue Assistant, you will be responsible for handling and inventorying a range of artefacts and faunal remains.

This includes:

  • Inspecting the objects to discern what they are, which will involve some research
  • Creating a basic inventory where each object is numbered and described in a digital catalogue
  • Evaluating the condition of the object
  • Suggesting possible conservation needed
