Position Overview
The Business Students’ Association at Vancouver Island University is dedicated to providing business students with opportunities and experiences outside of the classroom in order to develop a network of professional, passionate, and community-focused leaders who are not afraid to continually incorporate the art of fun.
The Financial Management Director is responsible for assisting the Vice-President of Finance with the day-to-day operations with an emphasis on the organization’s internal controls. That contributes to the collaboration within the portfolio as the director provides another overview of financial information and allows for discussion of various financial topics and issues with the Vice-President of Finance. Responsibilities include preparing expense collections from the Executive team, assisting in the collection of reimbursements from the Students’ Union, reviewing the internal controls of the organization prepared by the Vice-President of Finance, and contributing to developing a Finance Handbook for the BSA to assist in the transition between roles each year. In addition, The Financial Management Director is responsible for cash on hand, gift cards, and other tangible assets, as well as assisting the Vice-President of Finance in the organization’s bookkeeping. Lastly, they are responsible for maintaining a relationship with the Students’ Union as well as the VIU Foundation.
Position Requirements
Minimum time commitment for this position is two hours a week.
