Position Overview
The Landscape Technician Assistant will work collaboratively with the VIU horticulture team to maintain diverse learning grounds at the GR Paine Center. They will gain horticulture expertise through landscape maintenance practice and communication with VIU staff
Duties include grounds maintenance such as monitoring and maintaining irrigation, hand watering, mowing, weeding, mulching, pruning, planting, harvesting, and using and operating both manual and power tools. Students will also assist in customer service and sales by engaging with the public to sell nursery plants and notify the supervisor of problems and concerns. Students are expected to have independence and initiative as they will be completing some work alone with regular check-ins.
Position Requirements
WHMIS certification
- First Aid certification
