Description

The Parade Team Volunteer collaborates with a student-led team to represent Vancouver Island University (VIU) in the greater community through parade participation. The Parade Team develops and implements creative concepts consistent with VIU's brand. They devise logistical and communication plans, supporting VIU community recruitment and participation.

Position Requirements

The Fun@ VIU Committee is a program of the Office of Co-Curricular Engagement and Learning. The Committee is student-driven and supported by faculty and staff. 

The Committee's purpose is to build opportunities for student engagement in the community. Fun@VIU creates initiatives for experiential leadership development by building upon the VIU Graduate Attributes.

The Fun@ VIU Parade Team is responsible for leading ongoing campus community involvement in the Nanaimo Heritage Days Parade, Ladysmith Lightup Parade, and the Nanaimo Santa Claus Parade. In this role, students will be involved in a variety of ways including concept brainstorming, participant recruitment, ensuring campus and community stakeholders are effectively included in communication (VIU Mariners, VIU Res Life, International Education, VIU Communications Department, VIU Cowichan Campus, etc.), float decoration, and representation of VIU's brand.
