Position Overview
The Earth Sciences department is looking for a keen, science- and education-minded student to assist with the creation of educational materials and specimen kits for local elementary and high schools.
The successful applicant will assist in a variety of geoscience-related activities in the lab, in the field, and on the computer using Microsoft Office and GIS software.
Specific tasks will include sample collection and processing (eg. rock cutting and polishing), rock identification and naming, aggregation, and creation of accessory literature and educational activities appropriate for the age group being targeted.
This project is in response to an increasing number of requests from local area school teachers for materials to assist in their teaching of Earth Sciences to their students.
