The Discovery Room is Vancouver Island University’s full-service learning restaurant connecting students with our community patrons. Learning by doing, Hospitality Management and Culinary Students together serve up a contemporary dining experience. The nearest parking is in lot 5C (pay parking machines accept cash or credit cards). Parking can be at a premium during the lunch period so consider allowing a little extra time to find a parking space.
Menus change weekly. We are happy to accommodate special dietary needs – just let us know ahead of time.
A la carte menu with appetizers from $7 to $8 and entrees from $14 to $16. Dessert is included. There are typically 4 to 5 choices of entrée including a fish, pasta, poultry, and meat.
3-course menu from $27 to $34 depending on the chosen entrée. There are typically 4 to 5 choices of entrée including a fish, pasta, poultry, and meat.
Cash, Visa, Mastercard and Debit cards. We cannot accept AMEX, PCards or Cost Centre transfers.
Limited selection of wine by the bottle and glass, domestic and imported beer by the bottle and liquor.
Please bring your favourite bottle of commercially produced wine for a $10 corkage fee. This is a great opportunity for the students to practice their wine opening skills, especially if you bring wine with a cork.
Gratuities are not expected but are very much appreciated. Gratuities are put towards extra-curricular educational enhancement opportunity for the Hospitality and Culinary students.
Lunch & Dinner Service

Lunch service is offered from Wednesday to Friday (with the exception of statutory and academic holidays and special events) from mid-September to mid-June with reservations from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
Dinner service is offered on most Thursday and Friday evenings from late September to early April with reservations from 5pm to 6pm.
Our menus change weekly and are typically refreshed here every Monday for the coming week's service. Because we work with fresh ingredients in this learning environment it is not uncommon for the menu to change slightly from what is posted.
