From my very first job helping tourists find their best routes and experiences to enjoy Vancouver Island to my current work in the VIU Advising Centre, I have always loved working with others to explore options and choose pathways. I love hearing people's stories and working with them as they explore, create and problem solve plans for their growth and education.

I have great memories from my own student experience here at VIU. I first followed my passion for health and science to UVIC where, after a few bumps in the road, I loved my studies toward a Major in Biochemistry.  I entered the VIU Post Baccalaureate Bachelor of Education when I realized my true passion was helping others to learn and discover. As a student I worked in the employment sector and as a teacher I worked with students in science, math, Career Preparation and Work Experience. I completed an MA through San Diego State University and loved working for many years as a high school counsellor before joining the Advising team at VIU in 2014. I acknowledge and thank the Snuneymuxw, Quw’utsun and Tla’amin, on whose traditional and unceded lands we at VIU teach, learn, research, live and share knowledge.

I believe in following your heart to work and a life that you love and in making the most of the moments that make up our journey.  Experience is our greatest teacher.

I keep busy outside of office hours with my two teen sons and being active out and about in our beautiful part of the world.  I am so grateful to raise my children, live and adventure on beautiful unceded Stz’uminus territory.
