Volunteer Adult Basic Education (ABE) Tutors are trained to work alongside and provide personal support to ABE students, helping them reach their academic goals.

Position Requirements

Volunteer tutors provide valuable one-on-one or small group support and encouragement to adult learners.  This support builds student confidence and strengthens skills for academic success. 

Volunteer tutors assist students in the following areas:

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE)
  • Literacy courses up to intermediate levels
  • Foundations for Success (FNFS)
  • Aboriginal University Bridging Program (AUBP)
  • 1st year university English and Math courses

Tutors are dedicated and motivated students themselves.  They may already have experience working with students in an academic environment, or have a strong understanding of the skills involved in the above programs.
