You may need to book a short-stay while looking for long-term accommodation. Some hotels offer discounts for longer stays. Contact Housing@viu.ca to ask about discounting hotels. Please call ahead and check rates and availability first. Students have also used the Painted Turtle Guesthouse or Airbnb for short-stays.
