Graduation Convocation Ceremonies

UPDATE March 31: All convocation ceremonies in June 2020 are now POSTPONED indefinitely.  Please see the message from President Deb Saucier at the link here.

If you ordered regalia (cap and gown), you WILL get a refund; Gaspard, the supplier in Winnipeg, is cancelling all VIU orders and your money will be refunded to your credit card.  Please be patient and allow 30 days for the refund to appear on your credit card statement; Gaspard is processing thousands of refunds at this time from institutions all across Canada.

We will post more details here as soon as we know them; all students signed up for June convocation ceremonies will also receive an email with Frequently Asked Questions answered, later today.

Convocation is a time of celebration. Convocation Day is a chance for our students to get together with their classmates, family, friends, and faculty to celebrate their accomplishments. In addition to celebrating the achievements of our graduates at the ceremony, Vancouver Island University often grants honorary degrees and awards. A reception celebrating the achievement of our graduates is held after each convocation ceremony.

Vancouver Island University's upcoming graduation convocation ceremonies are:

  • January 28-29, 2021 (All programs in all Faculties)

More details about each of these ceremonies will be posted as they become available.  Please contact us at with any questions.
