Convocation tickets

Order tickets for your guests

You may request up to four guest tickets in your application to graduate. The deadline to request guaranteed guest tickets was February 28.

Due to Fire Code regulations, every guest must have a ticket (including infants).

Extra tickets

There is no waitlist for additional tickets for 2026 ceremonies.

Your guests must present tickets to gain access to the ceremony, so make sure you provide them beforehand. Once you go to the mustering area, you will not see your guests again until after the ceremony.

Seating and accessibility

The gymnasium will open for guests one hour prior to each ceremony. Bleacher seating is general, and first-come, first-served. Guests are welcome to bring their own cushion for added comfort. Accessible seating will be available for guests with mobility challenges. If you know ahead of time that your guests need accessible seating, please email graduation@viu.ca and we will reserve seating for you.

The alternate viewing locations are options for those who are concerned about seating comfort for the two-hour ceremony.

Receiving your tickets

Tickets will be available for pickup at the Nanaimo Campus Store the week before convocation (exact date tbd). They will be with your regalia.

To authorize someone else to pick up your tickets or regalia on your behalf, give them a note of permission (a letter, email or text) to take with them to the Campus Store. Your note should include your full name and student number, and the exact credential you are receiving, to ensure they get the correct regalia (if they are collecting regalia). They will also be asked to present identification and this will be noted for records.
