The VIU Let's Talk Science Site Coordinator organized and delivered STEM learning activities to Vancouver Island K-12 school classes as part of the national Let’s Talk Science program to promote interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
Position Overview
The VIU Let's Talk Science Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Let’s Talk Science program at VIU, recruiting volunteers and educators; training and supporting volunteers; maintaining site records including finances; acquiring additional funding; writing reports; planning outreach to rural and remote communities; and attending at least one fully funded Let’s Talk Science conference annually.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate:
- is registered at VIU in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or similar program
- has a passion for science, and science outreach and education
- has strong oral and written communication skills
- has strong leadership skills
- has outstanding interpersonal skills
- has excellent planning and organizational skills
- has strong experience with Internet applications and Microsoft Office Suite
- is willing to travel for remote events and Let's Talk Science conferences.
