The Mental Health Promotion Event Coordinator researched, developed, and coordinated an event to promote the mental health and wellbeing of VIU students.
Position Overview
The Mental Health Promotion Event Coordinator will develop and deliver an event(s) that increases awareness and promotes mental health and well-being on campus.
They will create and implement a short survey or other means to assess the needs & interest of VIU students, research existing events and resources at other post-secondary institutions and liaise with them as needed, create and/or adapt resources for VIU purposes, participate in meetings to consult and collaborate with Counselling faculty, present ideas and discuss needs for the event (eg. printing, booking space), complete a basic evaluation of the success of the event in collaboration with the counselling team, and prepare a guide and resources for continuation of the event in future years.
Position Requirements
- Enrollment in academic program related to health/mental health (eg. psychology, social work, Child & Youth Care, nursing, etc.), tourism, Recreation and Hospitality, or equivalent
- Capacity to work well independently as well as to collaborate with others
- Skilled in respectful and effective written and oral communication
- Creativity
- Proficiency with social media
- Skilled in researching information and resources
- Understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity
- Experience planning an event or program preferred
- Experience with/ knowledge of health promotion preferred
