Overview

The RockVIU Spring Event Lead is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the successful planning and execution of the RockVIU Spring Event. This position requires a dynamic individual who can demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills. The Event Lead is expected to coordinate all aspects of the event, from initial concept development to final execution, ensuring that all components come together seamlessly. Duties include coordinating with vendors, securing venues, managing budgets, and leading a team of volunteers or staff. The Event Lead must also handle any issues that arise during the event promptly and efficiently. Effective communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for this role. The RockVIU Spring Event Lead is expected to create an engaging and memorable experience for all attendees, reflecting positively on the organization and achieving the event's objectives.

  • Creative outlook on improving VIU services,
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills,
  • Experience leading meetings via Zoom,
  • Interest in collaborating with staff, faculty, students, and the community,
  • Ability to initiate and maintain conversations with team members, speakers, vendors, and VIU faculty/staff,
  • Preliminary understanding of VIU's Co-Curricular Record,
  • Familiarity with the VIU's Co-Curricular Involvement Application,
  • Event management experience on a virtual platform,
  • Previous attendance at RockVIU as a student or volunteer.
