Connect with a Wellness Peer

The Wellness Peers are students, just like you, who are trained to listen and support you.

The Wellness Peer are not counsellors, they are peer listeners who can support you with all things related to health, wellness, and student life.

The Wellness Peers are trained listeners who you can talk to about almost anything! Got questions? Looking for a resource? Or just need someone to talk to? The Wellness Peers can help!

The Wellness Peers do not give advice, but they provide empathetic listening and support to help you solve your own problems and feel less alone. If they can't help you, they will help you connect to someone who can.

The Wellness Peers are located in the new Wellness Lounge in the VIU's Nanaimo Campus Library, in the South East corner of the main floor. We also have a private room available where we can go if you'd like to have a more confidential conversation.

You can drop into the lounge Tuesdays from 11-6:30, Wednesdays from 11:30-6:30, and Thursdays from 10-1:30.

*please note the Wellness Peers will not be available over reading week, exam period, or the Dec break.

The Wellness Lounge is located in the South East corner of the Nanaimo Campus Library. It's a place where you can come to hang out and take a wellness break! We have comfy chairs, fidgets, colouring pages, and FREE tea and hot chocolate! Stop by for a few minutes or a few hours!

And on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30pm, you can even pet a therapy dog!
