- Monday, March 16 to Sunday, March 22: the VIU Gym is the host venue for the 2026 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship. Purchase your tournament passes (public on Showpass or VIU students on Eventbrite) today!
- April 3 (Good Friday)

- Monday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 22: the gym floor is closed for final exams and weight room hours are limited.

2026 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship presented by TD
VIU Athletics & Recreation is set to welcome the top eight collegiate men's basketball teams to VIU March 18-21 for the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball National Championship presented by TD!

Our programs
Intramurals and special events
It’s time to play! Our popular semester-long intramural sport leagues and one-day tournaments and special events will keep you active and having fun. Form a team with friends or sign up to meet fellow students. Competitive and recreational levels are offered.
Fitness classes
Get fit and take your health to the next level with our series of one-hour fitness and lifestyle classes. Students, staff, and community members are welcome. Choose from a variety of activities and exercises.
Facilities and services
The VIU Gym (Building 190) features a weight room, changerooms with showers, and locker rentals. Access is free for VIU students while alumni and community members can use the gym for a small fee. Visit Facilities and Services for rates.

VIU Mariners Athletics
Our men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams compete in the PACWEST conference of the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association. Join passionate fans at Mariners games and enjoy championship-calibre athletics!
