Counselling Services provides a number of health and wellness-focused groups, workshops and events throughout the school year. 

Changeways Group for Depression and Anxiety

Changeways Group is available by request at Cowichan or online.

  • Do you feel overwhelmed by anxiety or depression?
  • Have you been struggling to cope with major life transitions or difficult situations?
  • Are you interested in learning practical skills to help you cope better, overcome challenges and make positive changes in your life?

If you answered yes to the above questions, this group is for you.

Healthy campuses workshop

Learn simple, no-cost strategies to help you recharge, refocus and support your mental well-being throughout the semester. All activities are adaptable, quick to learn, and easy to fit into even the busiest student schedule. Enjoy free snacks, connect with others, and enter for a chance to win great cash prizes. Discover how just a few minutes of intentional break time can boost your mood, focus, and overall wellness—both in and out of the classroom!

Mental health check-up

Join VIU counsellors for a free, drop-in, virtual mental health screening. The process only takes about 30 to 45 minutes and the screening is open to all VIU students. Stay tuned for this event each semester!
