Hello and welcome! My name is Leeann and I am grateful to be working as a counsellor at VIU. I acknowledge and honour the Snuneymuxw First Nation for the privilege of serving on their traditional lands. I am eager to support a culturally safe and holistic wellness experience for all students.
Students are welcome to make appointments with me to address any forms of distress, including cultural adjustment to the Canadian experience, homesickness, grief, loss, relationship issues, self-confidence, boundaries, and past traumas. I am trained to respond supportively to students having emotional crises, and/or who have been diagnosed with mental illnesses.
I am a continuous learner who prides myself on adding to my current skillset. I am trained in several different clinical modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as deep-process trauma treatment methods.
I look forward to the opportunity to support students in their personal and academic success!
