Interior Design Planning and Research Assistant

Description

This work op position will assist the Interior Design department in preparing for our Professional CIDA Program certification.  The Assistant will be responsible for gathering student work and organizing the work in categories outlined by the certification board. Also, the assistant will organize the materials in the Materials Room, assisting the Technician in preparing  CIDA Certification on-line information and presentations. The assistant will work closely with the Technician to categorize and edit academic work to meet the Certification standards. Assist BID department to maintain a digital filing system to store and organize student work for CIDA.

Position Requirements

Required skill set for Summer Term:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • General understanding of samples and materials.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Knowledge or aptitude for interior design.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with instructions.
  • Working knowledge of Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of social-media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge and experience of the VIU interior Design Curriculum is required.

Graduate Attributes

Students in this position will gain skills in Oral Communication, Technological Literacies and Ethical Reasoning.
