Student Caller - Advancement and Alumni Relations

Description

Student Callers phone former students (alumni) to build relationships, answer questions, discuss alumni benefits, update records and communication preferences, and seek donations for various VIU fundraising efforts.

Position Requirements

The Student Call Centre strives to maintain contact with VIU alumni through relationship-building phone calls. These calls answer alumni questions, update their contact records and communication preferences, communicate alumni event information, and fundraise for student scholarships and other VIU projects.

Experience is not required. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable students with good, basic English communication skills. Student candidates will desire training, work experience, relationship building and fundraising skills, and will want to make a difference at VIU. If you love to talk, we'd love to talk to you!

Training will be conducted in both large and small group settings. Training topics include:

  • Various calling scripts
  • How to use the call centre software and hardware
  • How callers can best represent VIU
  • And much more!

Training Times: To be considered for an interview, students must be available to attend 3 training sessions. Some sessions are offered on multiple dates and times.

Call Centre Operation Times:

Calling of alumni for the Fall 2020 term begins in early October and ends in late November. The Student Call Centre operates on Sunday afternoons, and Monday through Thursday in the late afternoon to evening.

Callers must be available for a minimum of two shifts per week. Extra shifts may be available. Students hired for the Fall term may be considered to continue to with the Call Centre for the following Spring term calling campaign.
