Banquet Director - Business Students' Association

The Banquet Director coordinates both BSA banquets including the Winter Banquet and the development of a Year End Banquet.

Position Requirements

The Business Students’ Association at Vancouver Island University is dedicated to providing business students with opportunities and experiences outside of the classroom, in order to develop a network of professional, passionate, and community-focused leaders who are not afraid to continually incorporate the art of fun.

As the coordinator of all banquet events presented by the BSA, the Banquet Director was responsible for various aspects of each event to ensure it's success as well as perceived brand representation within the community. Responsibilities regarding event coordination included, managed the overall event process, logistics for execution of each social event, developed a timeline for prior to the event and a day of event timeline, acquired necessary licenses, followed a budget, as well as coordinated with venues, photographers, music/ DJ, food and drinks, ticket sales, and decorations. With the establishment of the Year End banquet, this director was tasked with researching and implementing new ideas to appeal to both students and business professionals. In addition to these responsibilities, the Social Events Director was responsible for professionally representing the BSA to students, faculty, and the local community, developing strong relationships and contact points with the various venues and/or community members involved, and work alongside as well as report event progress to the Vice President of Events. Estimated time commitment is 3 hours/week.
