Position Overview

As a Community Outreach Leader for the Vancouver Island Leadership Conference, the individual is responsible for leading the outreach initiatives to promote the conference and engage with the community. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to increase awareness and participation in the conference. The Community Outreach Leader is expected to have excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with partners, stakeholders, and the public. They are tasked with building and maintaining relationships with community groups, educational institutions, businesses, and other organizations to foster collaboration and support for the event. The role requires a proactive approach to identify outreach opportunities, coordinate with the conference team, and represent the conference at various events and meetings. The goal is to enhance the event's engagement and community presence, ensuring a successful and impactful conference experience for all participants.

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience in community outreach or related field,
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships,
  • Knowledge of event planning and management,
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools,
  • Ability to engage and motivate volunteers,
  • Understanding of local community and business networks on Vancouver Island,
  • Experience with public speaking and presentation,
  • Familiarity with project management software,
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment,
  • Experience in non-profit sector is an asset,
  • Knowledge of leadership principles and practices.
