CCR

Fall Videographer/Research Assistant - Work-Op - Positive Space Alliance

Description

This position helps capture Nanaimo's 2SLGBTQ+ history by scheduling, filming, and editing 10 - 15 interviews with members of Nanaimo's 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Position Requirements

Vancouver Island University's Positive Space Alliance (PSA), in partnership with the Nanaimo Pride Society (NPS), is undertaking a project to research, document, and celebrate Nanaimo's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and two-spirit (2SLGBTQ+) history through 10-15 video interviews with members of the local 2SLGBTQ+ community.

We're looking for a student videographer/research assistant to schedule, conduct, record, and edit these interviews. Once interviews are complete, the successful candidate will then produce a short documentary film on Nanaimo's 2SLGBTQ+ history, featuring interview clips and some archival research from the NPS archive (currently being put online via VIU Library), time permitting. An event celebrating the creation of the video series and possible short documentary film will be held.
