Description
VIU Mariners Spirit is a performance & competitive dance, stunt, cheer and leadership team. The team is broken into two groups, VIU Mariners Spirit Blue (Competitive) and VIU Mariners Spirit Silver (Recreational). The team fosters community and supports student success through meaningful connection and personal growth. Team members develop graduate attributes and support other community members in developing theirs.
Position Overview
A VIU Mariners Spirit Silver Member is a recreational leadership member required to attend and participate in most team operations. This included: practices (1/week), community events, optional competitions and festivals, social media, learning, cleaning and performing of choreography, etc... Members foster team spirit and abide by team conduct policies.
Graduate Attributes
Students in this position will gain skills in Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Collaboration, Active Learning, Capacity to Engage in Respectful Relationships, foundations for Life Long Learning.
Sign Up Directions
Tryouts for membership of the VIU Mariners Spirit Silver are held every September and occasionally in January at the VIU Gymnasium. For more information, please email marinersspirit@viu.ca
