As a Program Advocate, students were expected to work with fellow participants, Student Leaders, residence life staff, and external community organizations to create a positive program experience for themselves and other participants.

Position Overview

As a Program Advocate, students are expected to work with fellow participants, Student Leaders, residence life staff, and external community organizations to create a positive program experience for themselves and other participants.

This position is available to VIU community members who actively participate in VIU Reslife programming.

Programs may include Community Leaders (CL) floor events, health and wellbeing events, cultural events, Queer connection, SNL, Mondays with Moe, and residence wide programming (other than ResSports League).

Program Advocates are responsible for collaborative engagement, respectful relationship building, and active participation within the context of Residence Life Programming.

Responsibilities associated with this include following program directions, participating in the presented activity, and engaging in respectful and fair relations with all program participants

Skills participants will use over the course of their term include but are not limited respectful and inclusive relationship building, collaborative, creative, and critical thinking, and effective communication.

Graduate Attributes Associated

Students in this position will gain skills in active learning, capacity to engage in respectful relationships, collaboration, and intercultural perspectives.
