Assumes overall responsibility for brand management of the VIU MBA Association. Coordinates marketing and communications with the Social Media Manager and the Website Newsletter Manager. 

Position Requirements 

The Vancouver Island University (VIU) MBA Association is an autonomous not-for-profit society that is run by students for students. The Association exists to raise the profile of the VIU MBA Program and students on all levels (provincially, nationally and globally); to create connections between MBA students and the wider business community; and to foster next generation leadership with a strong code of ethics and the pursuit of professional excellence. A key activity for the VIU MBA Association is to raise funds for and compete in all levels of MBA competitions.

The Vice President Marketing and Communications is responsible for brand management of the VIU MBA Association to the wider community. This individual coordinates with the Social Media Manager, Website and Newsletter Manager, to ensure that the MBA Association’s activities are well represented on all respective communication platforms.This VP facilitates marketing related communication both within the VIU MBA community and externally, as needed (minimum time commitment:150 hours).

In addition, the responsibilities of the VP Marketing and Communications are said to be, but not limited to the following:

  • Performing all marketing activities pertaining to the VIU MBA Association
  • Coordinating all communications between MBA Societies of other universities and the VIU MBA Association
  • Conducting weekly meetings with respective team to ensure progress
  • Create a media strategy with managers for the promotion of MBA Association activities

Sign-up Directions

The VP Marketing and Communications is selected through a competitive process including an application and interview by a selection committee comprised of current/past MBA Association presidents, MBA Coaches and the Director of Graduate Studies/Faculty. The recruitment process commences in early to mid-fall semester.
