Description
The International Student Services Ambassador facilitates communication, connection, promotion, and awareness of the services available to international students.
Duties:
- Connect with current international students around their student experience
- Attend required events, orientations, and workshops
- Attend monthly meetings (in person/online)
- Post regularly on designated social media platform(s) to connect with students and promotes and spotlights services/ resources for students (Instagram and Facebook)
- Content creation in the VIU Co-curricular Engagement App and engage discussion
- Support developing content for the International Point of VIU newsletter (Student Voices section)
- Assist marketing International Student Services (ISS) initiatives
- Cultivate opportunities for positive interaction amongst incoming International Students
- Provide feedback and insight on how students are interacting with our online services
Position Overview
- Have a strong interest in helping fellow students
- Demonstrate respect for all others (values, beliefs, religion, sexual orientation etc.)
- Have excellent communication skills, including strong written English skills
- Must have in depth knowledge of social media platforms
- Must have proven social media experience and demonstrate ability to deliver creative content
- Willingness to learn
- Fluent in multiple languages would be an asset
- Experience with photo and video editing
- Have design experience (Adobe InDesign, photoshop, illustrator)
