Description
Students work as producers in the Library audio editing room. They also work more generally to strengthen the relationship between Vancouver Island University and CHLY, a campus-community radio station.
Position Requirements
- Work with the VIU Media Specialist to operate and maintain the Library audio recording studio, including the necessary hardware/software.
- Set-up and participate in training sessions with the VIU Media Specialist regarding audio equipment use.
- Develop audio production skills to be able to peer mentor other students.
- Create and maintain documentation on how to use the studio.
- Create media content, and assist other students to create various media content, including: advertising, podcasts, radio shows and other content for broadcast on the CHLY Campus Community Radio Station.
- Work with VIU Community Liaison Officer to liaise between CHLY and VIU.
- Help develop short and long term goals related to studio use, remote broadcasts, etc.
- Investigate/develop a CHLY Campus Community Radio Club on campus.
- Help recruit student volunteers for CHLY (e.g. through social media, promos, etc.)
- Research campus programming and partnership opportunities (e.g. campus lectures at various departments, campus news, sports, etc.)
