Description

The Fall Copy Editor assists the Production Manager during The Nav production week.  This involves editing contributors' work for spelling, grammar, house style, content, and format.  The Copy Editor also does fact-checking as necessary, and enters changes to text.

Position Requirements

Duties include:

  • Assist the Production Manager during production week
  • Edit contributors’ work for spelling, grammar, house style, content, and format
  • Fact-checking as necessary
  • Enter changes to text
  • Save the edited versions to the network files
  • Proof copy on production weekend
  • Checks copy for format and any errors

Position competencies:

  • Ability to work with a team
  • Editing skills
  • Proof reading skills for content submitted work to the newspaper
  • Proficiency in grammar and style guide of journalism, specific to The Navigator
