VIU Mariners Spirit is a performance & competitive dance, stunt, cheer and leadership team. The team is broken into two groups, VIU Mariners Spirit Blue (Competitive) and VIU Mariners Spirit Silver (Recreational). The team fosters community and supports student success through meaningful connection and personal growth. Team members develop graduate attributes and support other community members in developing theirs. 

Position Overview

A VIU Mariners Spirit Fundraising and Events Leader worked closely with VIU Mariners Spirit Coach(es)/Manager(s) and assistant coach(es) on team operations including administration, organization and planning for the team. A Fundraising and Events Leader organized team events (i.e. Parades, Community Events, Tailgates, etc...) and Fundraisers (i.e. Beer and Burger, Toonie Two Step, etc...). 

Graduate Attributes

Students in this position will gain skills in Oral communication. Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Safe and Ethical Practices, Capacity to Engage in Respectful Relationships

In order to be eligible for this position, the individual must be an active member of VIU Mariners Spirit. Tryouts for membership are held every September and occasionally in January at the VIU Gymnasium. For more information, please email MarinersSpirit@viu.ca.
