MSE Coordination Assistant - Special Education

Description

This student position provides substantive support to Faculty of Education Masters' students, specifically to students and supervisors during the thesis writing stage.  Part of this support is in uploading completed projects to VIUSpace, a digital archive and showcase for VIU scholarship.

Position Requirements

We are looking for a student who can support in the coordination of the Master of Education in Special Education (MEDS) program. 

Under the guidance and supervision of the MEDS Co-ordinator, the student will:

  • Research and compile information on the essential elements of varied research methodologies, as well as locate good exemplars of studies conducted in those methodologies.
  • Upload and organize resources in VIULearn.
  • Upload and organize completed thesis and projects onto VIUSpace.

The work will be completed through the Nanaimo campus resources (staff support).  The days and hours will be agreed upon by the co-ordinator and the student. 

The successful candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills in order to locate and collate all the information and documents that need to be and uploaded and/or archived.

The student will work closely with the program coordinator and will receive guidance and support in locating and compiling information to prepare APA, 6th edition supporting documents for graduate students.

The student will also receive training and guidance in locating and organizing information on varied research methodologies.  Strong existing computing skills are important.  This student needs to be comfortable with adding digital skills and adapting content in an online environment.
