Description

Residence Life is the comprehensive program that surrounds living on campus. As a Program Advocate, students are expected to work with fellow participants, student leaders, residence life staff, and external community organizations to create a positive program experience for themselves and other participants.

Position Requirements

This position is applicable to VIU community members who actively participate in VIU Reslife programming. 

Programs may include:

  • Community Leaders (CL) floor events
  • Health and Wellbeing events
  • Cultural events
  • Queer connection
  • SNL
  • Monday’s with Moe
  • Residence wide programming (other than ResSports League)

Program Advocates are responsible for:

  • Collaborative engagement
  • Respectful relationship building
  • Active participation within the context of Residence Life Programming

Responsibilities associated with this include:

  • Following program directions
  • Participating in the presented activity
  • Engaging in respectful and fair relations with all program participants

Skills participants will use over the course of their term include, but are not limited to:

  • Respectful/ inclusive relationship building
  • Collaborative/creative/critical thinking
  • Effective communication
