Description
Residence Life is the comprehensive program that surrounds living on campus. As a Program Advocate, students are expected to work with fellow participants, student leaders, residence life staff, and external community organizations to create a positive program experience for themselves and other participants.
Position Requirements
This position is applicable to VIU community members who actively participate in VIU Reslife programming.
Programs may include:
- Community Leaders (CL) floor events
- Health and Wellbeing events
- Cultural events
- Queer connection
- SNL
- Monday’s with Moe
- Residence wide programming (other than ResSports League)
Program Advocates are responsible for:
- Collaborative engagement
- Respectful relationship building
- Active participation within the context of Residence Life Programming
Responsibilities associated with this include:
- Following program directions
- Participating in the presented activity
- Engaging in respectful and fair relations with all program participants
Skills participants will use over the course of their term include, but are not limited to:
- Respectful/ inclusive relationship building
- Collaborative/creative/critical thinking
- Effective communication
