Description

The Community Outreach Leader assisted the Chair and Vice-Chair in planning and implementing a plan to attain sponsorship for the Vancouver Island Leadership Conference. In addition, the Community Outreach Leader was responsible for overseeing and managing all relationships between the VILC team and its sponsors.

Position Overview

The Vancouver Island Leadership Conference (VILC) is sponsored through the Office of Co-Curricular Engagement and Learning (OCCEL). VILC is an annual student-led, non-profit conference held on Vancouver Island, BC. The conference connects students with a passion for leadership and engages with local community business networks.

It is the mission of VILC to provide students with the best tools to build a better community through leadership and empower diverse thinking in this ever-changing world.

The Community Outreach Leader will assist the Chair and Vice-Chair in planning and implementing a plan to attain sponsorships for the Vancouver Island Leadership Conference. In addition, this position will be responsible to oversee and manage all relationships between the VILC team and its sponsors.

The student in this position will research and compile a list of potential business sponsors for the Chair and Vice-Chair, coordinate with the Chair and Vice-Chair to understand the needs of upcoming events and seek out sponsors for in-kind donations to support those needs, assist the Chair and Vice-Chair in building partnerships with businesses to sponsor the VILC, attend all VILC team meetings, and complete additional duties as they arise.

  • Good time management
  • Good organizational skills

Students should be self-starters who can take the lead on projects with minimal supervision.
