Gallery Assistant - VIU Gallery


This position provides experience for students with a deep interest in visual art and exhibition practices in an art gallery setting.

Position Requirements

The student will be responsible for assisting the Gallery Curator, and for front-desk reception at the VIU Gallery during regular open hours.

Duties include:

  • Responding to inquiries about gallery exhibitions from the public in person and/or on the telephone
  • Monitoring the exhibition guides (and submitting requests for additional copies)
  • Reporting on any change in status of the artworks on exhibition (damage).

Additionally, the student will assistant the Gallery Curator in both the installation and de-installation of seasonal exhibitions.
