Description
Program Leaders (PLs) are an integral part of Residence Life. The Program Leaders enhance the residents experience by hosting events and delivering services that build residents engagement with their peers, develop resiliency, and enrich their co-curricular experience. By fostering community spirit through the organization of social and educational events, PLs are highly visible and engaging members of the residence community. The following is a breakdown of the responsibilities and requirements of a Community Leader, both on and off duty.
Position Overview
- Plan and execute a CommuniTree Connections event at least once per month.
- Plan and execute a minimum of one additional activity each week, providing an educational program or service.
- Host the International Student Mixer during ResTide Orientation.
- Collaborate with campus partners such as International Education and encourage resident participation in events such as Culture Couch, Global Groove, World VIU Days, and Global Citizens Week.
- Provide International Education with recommendations of students who could lead Cultural Couch events.

Students in this position will gain skills in written communication, creative thinking, safe and ethical practices, active learning and oral communication.

- Excellent written and verbal communication

- Understanding of VIU's co-curricular record program
- Understanding of community building principles
- Experience implementing curriculum-based programs
- Ability to work remotely
